Weapons Technician

Servicing and maintenance of Aircraft, missile launchers, 27mm cannons, Role Equipment, Pylons and all associated components. Fault finding and rectification, both mechanically and electrically. Testing and investigation of components via electronic, hydraulic and high pressure test equipment. Electrical loom construction, rectification and installation with precision termination techniques. Liaising with senior technical consultants and members of industry to facilitate investigations, upgrades and potential complications. Other duties include tool and stock management, the training and supervision of new work colleagues and key personal for deployment to operation areas, calibration and servicing of Precision Termination Tools and Torque Wrenches

  • Team leader of 7 persons for Mauser Cannon return to work program raising the team to the top 10 per cent of safety and production. Ensuring that quality was to the highest safety standards and preventing cross contamination of parts with other gun systems of the same nature
  • Responsible for several specific modifications including construction, embodiment, testing, fault finding, repair and rectification
  • Written maintenance procedures for senior technical consultants for new and existing components and equipment
  • Aided in the design and construction of a locally manufactured piece of electrical test equipment in lieu of an industry equivalent
  • Discovered and diagnosed a major electrical fault with an aircraft component. Subsequently wrote a Special Engineering Instruction to alter the aircraft asset to eliminate the chance of similar faults
  • Carried out risk, manual handling and COSHH assessments with toxic contamination with in an engineering environment. Controlling the work environment, Contain any contamination, disposal of contaminated waste with approved practices  and monitoring of work processes
  • Discovered and diagnosed a mechanical connector fault in an aircraft resulting in fleet wide checks. Carried out rectification of similar faults found
  • Sole responsible for armament coverage for helicopter missions in a sensitive area with 100% mission launch success rate
