Interpersonal skills

My interpersonal skills have been improved through several module group works and presentations which include effective communication, report writing and presentation skills. Also, due to my responsibility of daily monitoring of company’s projects (on my last full time job), I was usually assigned the duty of briefing new employees or stakeholders about the several projects.

Team orientation

I work effectively with other students from different cultural and educational backgrounds in completing numerous group projects at the university. On my last full-time job, my role as the assistant project engineer gave me the opportunity to work with different individuals both within and outside the organisation.

Flexibility and ability to multitask As a student I manage my schedule (based on priority and importance of task) in order to accommodate both academic and voluntary work requirements. This was also demonstrated when I assisted a colleague who went on maternity leave; I was able to incorporate both responsibilities.

As the group leader for one of a module’s project (on liquid effluent), I suggested ideas such as creating a website and a YouTube video for the project’s outcome which we did. On my last job, I proposed a business case to the senior managements for the construction of bus shelters along the managed road section which was eventually approved and then managed by me. Also, I modified the daily reporting format in the organisation to reflect more of the resources used.

Computer Skills

Proficient in use of Microsoft Office 2007 (word, excel, OneNote, power point, project, outlook). Also proficient in the use of AutoCAD and Microsoft Paint as graphical tools.

I speak English fluently as my first language and also, I write and read Arabic moderately. While working with my academic team, I have been able to pick basic understanding of Chinese.
