Experience
Hawk /AML (African Minerals Ltd), Tonkolili, Sierra Leone (May 2011)
-Upon gaining employment with the company I was seconded to the QE Port In Freetown to work for Port Logistics, As Logistics Manager this job entailed the day to day running of the office which included:
-Overseeing loading and unloading operations for goods in and out of the port as well as transport operations for goods in and out of the port.
-Procurement of goods for the Iorn Ore mine sites this entailed meeting with suppliers to negotiate costs & rates for goods.
-Processing the paperwork relating to these operations.
-Control of Port Office Operations these also involved meetings with the Port Authorities. & if any issues arose & making sure that the Port Authorities Rules & Regulations were up Held to ensure the smooth running of the port opreations as to rejuce any issues on the Port.
-Coordinating the delivery and construction of all manner of supplies for use on mine sites, ranging from food parcels and electronics through to flat-pack accommodation units and heavy plant (including large bucket excavators and diesel locomotives), liaising with shipping companies and crane operators.

LaFarge Ready Mix (July 2001 – Dec 2009)
-During this highly enjoyable and successful nine year tenure with LaFarge, I gained a promotion to Production Manager as a result of my performance, knowledge and attitude.

Production Manager (2003 – 2009)
-Overseeing the smooth, profitable and compliant operations across 5 sites with direct responsibility for 10 staff – in addition to 4 sales staff, 14 owner-drivers and various visiting drivers.
-Personally responsible for all staff and contractors on all my sites, conducting risk assessments and inspections on site, coordinating routine plant maintenance and break-down response.
-Procurment of spairs & raising order numbers for the goods ordered to repair Ready-Mix Plants & Moblie Plant IE: Loading Shovels Cat/Komatsu/Doosan Vehicle hire as required. Hi Vis/Protective Clothing. Also raising Bulk order numbers for Cement/Aggregates/Addtives to run the Ready-Mix Plants.
-Overseeing Health and Safety on site, including issue of protective equipment and delivering training talks to staff to ensure the smooth running of the plant and safety of staff was never compromised.
-Issuing contractor permits-to-work, dealing with own driver issues and Plant Staff attendance management and holidays.
-Ensuring the plant adhered to strict contingency regulations regarding plant operation during incident investigations.
-Training staff on Cat & Komatsu Loading Shovels up to test standard (LaFarge internal testing).

Plant Supervisor (2001 – 2003)
-Overseeing the loading of the vehicles in accordance with schedules.
-Running the plant, overseeing the correct mixes are produced for each order.
-Overseeing the correct handling of wastage, ensuring all environmental legislation is strictly adhered to across the site and that all persons and vehicles involved are certified for purpose.
-Delivery of training to staff.

Mick Roberts Transport (1990 – 2001)
– In 1990 I established my own haulage operation, initially with one concrete mixer and gradually expanding to three articulated vehicles and two concrete mixers by 1997, employing other drivers accordingly and managing the tender process to win work.
-Procurement of spaires for my trucks ie: tyres/fuel/oils/lorry parts/ trailer parts/maintenance.
-In 2001 I made a decision to leave self employment due to rising fuel costs and increased repairs.

H.G.V. Class 1 Driver (1976 -1990)
-Working for various transport operators, transporting a wide range of goods across Europe & the U.K
– These companies included Cadwallader Continental Oswestry, Edwards Transport Market Drayton and Wincanton Muller Contract and Wiseman Dairies.
