1)Assistant Engineer, Design Office (Full-time employment)

Duties included:

(i) Field work on road pavement inventory surveys for over 30 roads in four regions of Ghana under the TRP2 Programme Sponsored by the World Bank.

(ii) Highway Geometric Design calculations for the development of tender drawings using MROAD and LISCAD Software packages.

(iii) Occasional visits to portions of roads being designed to reconcile geometric alignment design decisions made in the office with actual road section topography.

(iv) Reinforced Concrete Design

2)Site Manager (Full-time service contract)

Supervised work for the installation of 23 No. 700 Acrow Panel Series Bailey Bridges for the implementation of Cocoa Roads Rehabilitation Project for the Feeder Roads Department of the Ghana Highways Authority. The project formed part of a World Bank Sponsored TRP 2 Programme. Duties involved the following:

(a) Mobilisation of work force, bridge components, equipments and logistics to various bridge sites for installation.

(b) Coordination of work schedules to assure smooth transition from one bridge site to the other.

(c) Computations and the execution of cantilever launching of the bridges across river channels.

(d) Assisted a chartered quantity surveyor in periodic measurements of executed work for interim valuation payment certificates.

3)Lecturer/ Head of Department (Full-time employment)

Duties included:

(a) Lecturing and examining in (i) construction management studies, (ii) structural analysis and design, (iii) added responsibilities in connection with membership of the sports and development committees of the academic board of the polytechnic and membership as a hall counsellor.

(b) Duties related to being Section Head of Civil Engineering Department.

(c ) Duties related to membership of the Academic Board of the polytechnic.

(d) Privately contracted to train technicians of the Ghana Railway Cooperation, Takoradi District, on setting out of horizontal alignment and production of tender drawings.

(e) Worked with Vision Construction Ltd. Berekum, Ghana, as their Project Engineer (on short term contract-Part time basis). Duties included: (i) Pre-contract studies, (ii) tendering,(iii) supervision of lorry park rehabilitation project and the construction of 4No. Aqua privy toilets, (iv) resource control, (v) scheduling and monitoring to ensure compliance to all statutory obligations related to the project.

(f) Worked with Municipal Development Collaborative (Consultants) in Ghana, as their Site Engineer (on short term contract-Part time basis).The project entailed the implementation of two link-roads scheme within a Muslim community; construction of an access made up of a 3m × 3m reinforced concrete twin box culvert. Duties included:

(i) Coordinating between the client’s representative and the contractor to facilitate smooth running of the project,

(ii) inspecting and approving reinforcement arrangement during construction,

(iii) organising monthly management meetings to assess progress and reporting to Head Office.
