Senior Electrical Commissioning Technician – Orion Group

Commissioning all aspects of electrical plant associated with oil & gas production on the BP Clair platform; making this plant ready for handover to client ready for start-up. Initially onshore at AMEC’s Wallsend construction yard, then offshore. Controlled work for up to 20 technicians. Seconded from commissioning to BP operations team in Jan 2005. Carrying out maintenance, repair & operation of all the platform’s electrical systems. As SAEP / Isolating Authority I was authorised at voltage levels up to & including 11kV. Operations Electrical Technician – Amerada Hess Ltd
Sept 1992 – April 2004

When first employed I was seconded from Operations to the commissioning department. As lead electrical technician, I worked at Belleli’s construction site in Southern Italy commissioning the Scott platform’s process module, then offshore North Sea completing total platform commissioning & mechanical completion acceptance. I was responsible for the proper installation, maintenance and repair of all the platform’s electrical power & control systems. As Responsible Electrical Person my duties included : identifying and implementing effective isolations and de-isolations on all electrical equipment; performing the assessment of authorised and competent persons (where appropriate this may involve supervised training for candidates prior to assessment); and controlling the activities on High Voltage systems up to and including 13.8 kV. I controlled the activities of electrical contract staff, drilling electrical personnel and vendors. This position involved working a 2 weeks on, 3 weeks off rota.

Offshore Electrical Technician – Britoil/BP Exploration & Production
May 1986 – Sept 1992

Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs ofloration  all   electrical plant on the Clyde oil and gas production platform. Involved in electrical commissioning & mechanical completion acceptance during hook-up. Worked a 2 weeks on, 3 weeks off rota. Authorised at voltage levels up to and including 6.6 kV.
