Engineering experience

Outline:

My mechanical engineering career to date has revolved around my tenure within the British Army, REME Corp (Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers). In this time I have acquired a considerable number of skills and qualifications across a range of disciplines and defence equipment. Furthermore, I have developed a keen and capable sense for the control of publications, documentation and organisation of technical libraries.

Key Responsibilities and Competencies:

Hydraulic

• Interpreting maintenance manuals and engineering drawings/schematics/diagrams ensuring work carried out to specific legislation and tolerances

• Servicing, scheduled/unscheduled, corrective maintenance, troubleshooting fault finding and fault rectification

• Experience in maintaining, testing, replacing and bleeding of high-pressure hydraulic systems, oil systems, fuel and air systems

• Hydraulic union fittings, pipelines, functional testing, measuring, replenishment with hydraulic rigs and other special to type tools

• Replacement of filters, valves, pumps and various other line replaceable units

Mechanical

• Experience in dismantling and inspection of components, overhaul, rebuild and testing of equipment

• Use and experience with vast amount of calibrated precision tools, test and diagnostic equipment (torque wrenches, vernier calipers, micrometers, etc and various other hand tools, power tools)

• Maintaining unmanned aerial vehicles, mechanical/electrical/hydraulic and associated ground control stations, including frequency and software

• Maintaining Apache attack helicopters, Lynx and Gazelle helicopters and their (power/oil/hydraulic/pneumatic) systems in accordance with maintenance procedures, permit to work

• Structural integrity and non destructive testing, inspection and manufacturing repairs, with metals, alloys and composites

• Experience with diesel generators, piston engines 2 stroke 4 stroke and rotary wankel engine

Rotating

• Experience with Gas turbine engines from complete replacement, boroscope/endoscope inspections for erosion, corrosion and impact damage, to compressor and turbine blade rectification and repairs

• Inspection, remove/refit, replacement of components, couplings, flanges, bearings and shimming

• Experience with precision measuring and laser alignment tools

• Rotor blades, main rotor head, gearbox transmission, drive shafts and other rotating equipment, including tracking and balancing

• Testing of Gas turbine engines within test facility and monitoring of power, performance, leak checks

Health and Safety/Quality
