During the last twelve years I have gained vast experience and had an insight into the engineering profession. My experiences in various settings have proved to be enjoyable. I can work effectively as part of a team or independently using my initiative. I am aware that this type of career can be demanding but I believe that the skills I have acquired from work placements and life experiences provide a solid foundation for my future career.
I have excellent time management skills and am able to cope under pressure, while working full time in my previous employment I was studying through the Open University for a HND in Business Management. My course is something that I can see myself successfully achieving in the future. I am hopeful that my diploma will improve my knowledge on a variety of topics.
Working in this type of industry has always appealed to me, I have always wanted to pursue a career in fabrication/welding. My employment in various settings confirmed my desire to become a competent tradesman in this field. I am a professional individual, who is able to work well as part of a team or independently using my own initiative. I am very experienced and can adapt to different working environments. I am a likeable, trustworthy, and reliable character who is hard working, loyal and committed. I believe I work well under pressure, with necessary skills and knowledge to do my job successfully. I am punctual and always give 100% to each and every job, always endeavouring to work to a high standard.
My previous employment gave me an insight into the refining industry (Petrochemical) as I was based between the offsite workshop and the Chevron Refinery doing scheduled and unscheduled work in various parts of the refinery. I am able to work to deadlines and can work under pressure, ensuring that employers are happy with my work.
During my most recent employment in Sierra Leone one of my roles involved managing and training a small number of the local workforce. Aiming to develop the Nationals work skills was a rewarding and challenging aspect of the job. In order for this to be successful my post required a high level of awareness of various cultures. This experience has given me a complete new outlook within the fabrication and welding trade and being able to help teach others the skills I have gained since being on site does give me a great sense of achievement. I am aware of how valuable good working relationships with colleagues is in terms of ensuring the best working environment and that tasks are carried out to the highest standard. Therefore I aim to be approachable at all times.
I have many qualities to offer as a plater (boilermaker) that I feel are beneficial to employers and am more than keen to develop any new skills and knowledge needed to further my career and personal development. Aside from my professional skills and experience, I am an enthusiastic and motivated individual who can be relied upon.
I have been involved in plating/fabricating for all of my working life and have no doubt that this is the career path I wish to pursue. There are few professions that enable you to impart knowledge and strive to bring out the best in others whilst learning and developing yourself.
