Education

BEng/MEng of Mechanical Engineering (2011 – 2015) MERIT
University of South Wales, United Kingdom

Final Year Modules

Non destructive testing (NDT), Advanced Computational fluid dynamics (CFD), Advanced finite element analysis (FEA), Business and risk management , Integrative group project, Fatigue and fracture, Safety Health and Environmental engineering

1) Group project: Development, Design and Testing of a Model Carrier unmanned cargo aircraft

Project Goal; The main aim of the project was to develop unmanned cargo aircraft, with the possibility of fully autonomous flight. This and also the ability to release a payload during the flight of the aircraft were the two key requirements for the project. Skills learnt include teamwork and time management. Gantt chart was used for scheduling and managing the project. To solve this design problem a computer language called Arduino was used for programming the system, this included the use of PID controller. Solidworks was used for designing the body of the aircraft. CFD (Phoenics package) was used for simulating flow dynamics. This project combined electronic and mechanical hardware design optimization, real time control theory & related software algorithms, sensor systems and flight control theory.

Third Year Modules

Fluid dynamics, Control, Finite element analysis, Computational fluid dynamics, applied engineering mechanics, Thermodynamics, Aircraft materials, Manufacturing systems, HVAC and Refrigeration.

Project 2: Design and simulation of the flow and heat transfer inside the turbine blade internal cooling system

Project Goal; The main aim of the project was to simulate and analyse flow and heat transfer dynamics inside the turbine blade internal cooling system. This involved studying the parameters of the navier- stokes equation. CFD and FEA techniques were applied, using ANSYS and Phoenics to analyse the thermal stresses suffered by the blade at high temperature.

Second year modules

Control and instrumentation, Engineering maths, Engineering mechanics, Sustainability engineering design, Business and finance for engineers, engineering material science, Engineering thermofuilds

Project 3: Design and analysis of a heat exchanger

Project goal: The objective of the project was to design a double-pipe water-to-water heat exchanger with fully developed turbulent flow. Skills applied to solve this problem include the use of solidworks to design and simulate the devices, the knowledge of control and instrumentation was also vital. Computational fluid dynamics was also used to study the dynamics of the flow and heat flux, using the ANSYS code. The other software which was used includes MATLAB and Microsoft Visio

Bachelor of Science 2009-2011
University of Botswana, Botswana

First class grade was obtained in five different maths modules, organic chemistry and physics.
