Personal Assistant to General Sir Nicholas Houghton; Vice Chief of the Defence Staff (Chief Operating Officer of Defence and Operational Deputy to the Head of the UK Military) Ministry of Defence (Dec 2010 to Present)

  • Maintain and manage Vice Chief’s complex diary, prioritising activities, scheduling and ensuring supporting documentation is provided in advance of meetings.
  • Provide research and administrative support including production of high level material such as documents and presentations from drafts.  Action incoming emails/correspondence including response.

Budget Manager and Northern Command Region Cashier, Royal Navy (2008-2010)

  •   Manage and coordinate budget for all Military Units in Scotland, Northern England and Northern Ireland. Responsible for large cash holding, including the banking arrangement’s and cash uplifts/returns. Responsible for closing and balancing accounts and all contingent accounts monthly.
  • Organising foreign currency cash plans, estimating amounts required, ordering currency, arranging additional funds for overseas units and leading on training and guidance for all personnel tasked with managing accounts in the Northern Command Area.
  • Compliance auditing and inspections on tendered units and lead investigations and rectifying any discrepancies found.
  • Funds Management – Ensuring all Entertainment, Benevolent, Welfare and other funds run by tendered units adhere to correct regulations and procedures and supported by correctly receipted expenditure.
  • Advise on and assess eligibility for Relocation and Refund of Legal Expenses, such as those on sale and purchase of properties, including casework submission where exceptional circumstances prevail, completion of related paperwork and payment of associated expense.
