ESL Professor

Taught classes for the English Preparatory Year Program on the KSU women’s campus. Taught 25 hours per week in a young adult university setting with additional office hours for administration, lesson planning, class preparation and delivery, and with invigilating examinations. Received the higest marks for teacher evaluation (all 5’s) and built strong working relationships with colleagues and KSU staff. Adapted well to the Islamic culture and enjoyed working in Saudi Arabia.

Taught ESL classes at corporate locations using the English Time curriculum. Taught standard English Time classes at various branch locations.  Interviewed, trained and supervised staff of corporate English teachers. Created and designed curriculum for both in-house English Time classes and off-site corporate clients. Managed the Corporate English Branch, overseeing staff and student activities. Performed educational and administrative duties at the Corporate Head Office. Wrote weekly articles for the Daily Zaman newspaper.

Taught three week classes on phonetics, language and communication skills to newly hired call center employees. Spent initial five months with company developing curriculum and conducting assessments to gauge new hires’ level of English. Responsible for coaching individuals and providing linguistic/conversational feedback on training performance.


RAJABHAT UNIVERSITY, Phetchaburi, Thailand   2002-2003

ESL Contract Teacher

Taught English to university students on a one-year contract.  Responsible for designing curriculum, selecting text books, creating syllabi, planning lessons and teaching 2 hr 40 minute classes on a semester system.  Class size:  40 students (on average).  Class load:  17 units (seven classes) per week; classes met once a week.  Created summer teaching project for 4th year students at local elementary school; supervised four student teachers and served as mentor.  Involved in the Speech Competition, English Camp and Quiz Bowl.

KIDS HERALD SCHOOL, Incheon, South Korea   2001-2002

ESL Contract Teacher

Taught English to kindergarten, elementary and middle school students on a one-year contract.  Responsible for planning lessons using the New Parade curriculum and teaching seven 40-minute classes a day.  Class size:  8 - 10 students (on average).  Tutored high school students on an individual basis.  Coordinated school Christmas pageant and other holiday events.  Actively participated in monthly school planning meetings.

Western Regional Manager

Originally hired by Marcum Fuel Systems as the Western Regional Sales Manager responsible for all West Coast Sales in California, Oregon and Washington.  Assigned a $2 million first-year sales quota, exceeded $3 million.  Responsible for establishing and maintaining a home-based office from which to create marketing strategies to increase revenue and generate sales leads through self-directed prospecting and cold calling. Performed extensive networking by becoming an established member of various industry groups and coalitions.  Organized/distributed product information and written correspondence for customers and prospective bids.  Accountable for technical writing in preliminary bid specification and equipment quotations.  Promoted company and industry business via monthly speaking engagements (average groups of 40 people).  Accepted two invitations to be a guest speaker at regional conferences with 400+ attendees.

In 1998, Natural Fuels Corporation acquired Marcum Fuel Systems.  Received raise in salary and commission to ensure employment with new company.  Promoted one year later to handle all sales in the Western United States due to outstanding performance in achieving $5 million in sales with central U.S. partner and was again given a significant salary increase.
