Short Bio:

A mixed career, but there are trends that hold it all together! Trained as an aircraft technician in the UK RAF and diagnosed and repaired aircraft both in and out of the forces. Then moved on to Maintainability Design (with LSA and ILS) in the aerospace industry.
Gained Technical Authorship qualification and experience. A blip doing overseas practical maintenance contract work. Then back into Maintainability, ILS and LSA with rolling stock. Now performing assurance work with the British Army.

Present post: Equipment Examiner (Technical) – Ministry of Defence (Army)

• provide assurance to heads of the Army that users and maintainers of all publicly owned assets are complying with policy, legislative requirements, engineering standards, mandatory notices and good practice.

• assess equipment care performance, giving appropriate remedial advice as necessary.

• carry out scheduled detailed inspections of defence establishments worldwide. Inspections focus on the examination of equipment itself, and audits of procedures, processes and facilities. All results are recorded and reported, particularly serious equipment defects, health and safety incidents and statutory or service non-compliances. Detailed evidence of all findings and any recommendations made are recorded and transmitted using a bespoke MoD management and reporting software. Unit representatives and the chain of command are debriefed at the end of the inspection, or as and when significant findings are made.

• specialize in optical and electronic instruments, sighting and observation systems, LASER and explosive ordnance device detectors and neutralisers, I am also responsible for the inspection of electro-medical and Helicopter Under-slung Lifting Equipment. Additionally I assist inspections of vehicles, telecommunications and other lifting equipment.
